Nona's Sweets Bakery Cafe

I loved working with Dominica at Nona's Sweets! She is fabulous and the cake was delicious! My sister had her wedding cake from here and once I tasted that I knew I wanted my cake from Nona's!! We had a 4 tier cake and there was none left after the reception! My husband and I will eat the top tier and cut it into 12 pieces so that we can eat cake each month! Why wait till April 2013??? I had been to about 3 bridal shows and sampled cakes from several vendors. They of course all tasted fabulous and I knew this was going to be the hardest decision- picking out the cake! I sampled Nona's at the Bridal Show at the Convention Center in Charlotte and basically were leaning towards them, as they were Italian and could probably make some of the treats I grew up on. So, I made an appointment to go tasting with them and had my dad, my older sister, who was one of my maids of honor, and my now husband join me. Looking through their options to pick was hard- not being a big cook- I wanted to make sure things weren't over-powering. My older sister helped me out and I sent in our choices so they were ready for our tasting. We got into the tasting room and were thrilled with the choices we had before us! My husband whose not a sweet tooth kinda guy, absolutely loved what we had- almost licking the plate! Ryan and I had decided we didn't want the traditional 4-6 tiered cake, so we opted for 4 individual cakes, with one being the tiered version for our cake topper. Nona's even duplicated the scroll design that was on my invitation for the main cake! Our 4 cakes were: vanilla cake with strawberry mousse with almond butter cream icing, a chocolate cake with raspberry filling and chocolate ganache icing, the classic red-velvet cake and then an Italian Rum Cake. Our guests all enjoyed themselves on the cakes, as we didn't have any left to take home except our top layer! And the only bite I had was when Ryan and I fed each other our piece and it was absolutely delicious! Nona's cakes are so moist and light! And they are made with real iciing not fondant, which definitely makes a difference! I cannot wait to eat our layer on our 1 year anniversary! Their bakery is so cute and filled with so many great cookies, pastries, and other items! I'll be back for just pure enjoyment of those treats and will definitely use Nona's again for future parties! If you want sugar flowers nonas is the best. The three red rose i got on my cake were beautiful and looked so real. i saved my flowers from my cake. the cake was wonderful and very beautiful and delscious

Cake was wonderful! I took pictures of various cakes I liked and she was able to create exactly what I wanted. It was so beautiful!

Dominica and the entire staff at Nona's Sweets were wonderful to work with, incredibly responsive and they make some of the best carrot cake I've ever had! The cake decorations were beautiful and they did a terrific job for my wedding. I'll definitely use them for any future cake needs!

My cake did not turn out as I had asked. Additionally, this vendor was included in my wedding venue package. It only included vanilla or chocolate cake, with white icing. It was very limited selection, even though the price was the same as other vendors.

Our wedding cake was so beautiful and delicious! We received so many compliments and some people even said it was the best cake theyve ever had at a wedding. And, the cake was so good that when we got back from our honeymoon, we ate the top layer that we were supposed to save! It was so good we couldn't help it! And Dominica was so great to work with. I would recommend them to any bride in the area.

I cannot say enough good things about Dominica and Nona's Sweets. Our cakes (wedding and grooms) were beautiful. The coordinator at our venue stated our cake was one of the best she has ever seen! It was exactly how I pictured it in my head. Not to mention, it was the best tasting cake of any of the bakers we met with! Delicious! Dominica also was SO cooperative when working with us. She allowed us to use her cake stand and return it a week later than she had asked for, due to us being out of town on our honeymoon and having no one to drop it off for us. I cannot recommend Nona's enough, and I will certainly be using them for my baking needs in the future... hopefully some children's birthday cakes eventually!!

The cake and cupcakes looked, but more importantly, tasted wonderful. Everyone enjoyed them.

My cake was exactly what I had envisioned!!!!! Dominica did more than an excellent job with my cake!! She made the planning process so easy and fun, and absolutely everything went as planned! My cake was so beautiful I didn't want to eat it, but it was so yummy that I'm glad I did eat it!! I couldn't have asked for a better cake caterer! I would definitely recommend her to everyone!!!!

Nona's Sweets was a delightful experience, starting with a fun cake tasting session! The staff is friendly and professional and any question we had prior to our wedding was answered promptly.
